NOT ACTIVE – Data Analyst – UK – £40,000 – £60,000
So many job ads for Data Analysts promise the same things.
Then, the reality is that you’re stuck in a back office doing data mining or cleaning up a messy dataset.
Here you will very much be a valuable, visible part of the team – the first IT hire for this long-established multi-site independent veterinary business, with a brief to challenge and change the way the business uses data.
How can you be sure that promise stacks up? That your recommendations will be listened to?
Because this is one of the few veterinary practices in the UK to operate a John Lewis-style partnership arrangement. Here, every one of the 90-strong team has a stake in the business. When they hit their profit targets, everyone gets a share.
It’s proof that this is a business that values its people as much as it cares about customers and their pets – one that trusts their team to shape the culture and deliver the plan. Basically, it’s a positive, people-powered place to work.
Initially, you’ll be focusing on a project to transform the way that the finance team uses data – whether that’s by automating and improving the way existing systems and processes work together, sharpening data visualisation and financial reporting for the team or perhaps by creating a new bespoke system – it’s up to you.
Beyond that, there’s a plethora of projects to work on as the company looks to bring their IT and management systems work in house – they’re currently outsourced. You’ll be reporting directly to the MD and Finance Manager and dealing with people across the business, making this a highly visible role, with plenty of room to develop,
Of course, being the company’s first IT hire, you will initially have your fair share of hands-on work, including some data wrangling and troubleshooting.
In time, you’ll have the opportunity to bring new people on board and grow your own team, in the process, sharpening your recruitment and leadership skills. In turn, that will enable you to expand your remit and look at the bigger picture – for example, making system-related recommendations spanning veterinary care, finance, HR, logistics and supply chain.
We’re looking for someone who’s either doing a similar job now or who’s ready to step up into a role with more responsibility. Whilst you don’t need people management experience, you do need some success leading projects in systems simplification, integration and automation. You’ve shown that you’re well organised with good communication skills – someone who can work towards a goal and bring out the best in others.
Technically, we’re looking for someone who’s naturally analytical, with a good understanding of API & SQL and a proven ability to write clean, secure and well-tested code. Beyond that, we’d like to see as much of the following as possible on your CV:
If you’re an animal lover, you’ll be in great company. Your work here will have a direct influence on improving the level of care the company offers to people’s pets. In return, you can be confident that the company will look after your career and give you all the training and support you need to keep developing.
As long as you can get into the Kent office for a couple of days a week – you’ll be trusted to work when and where you prefer.
There’s lots more we can tell you about the company, their culture, the role and the benefits. For the full story click the enquire today button.
